Tony Rezko guilty on 16 counts

http://www.suntimes.com/news/metro/rezko /984453,rezkoverdict060408.article

Rezko has been found guilty on 16 of 24 counts.  The Sun-Times link should give updated information -- this is all they had.

I have no opinion on whether this hurts Obama -- just reporting the news.

Yep. (2.00 / 1)

Democrats should treat any negative mention of this as akin to Whitewater or Vince Foster - an immediate sign that the person speaking is an ignorant right-wing troll.

I think we can count on Republicans for that this fall.

Sure... and then McCain gets hit back and hard.  His past is MUCH MUCh MUCH worse than Obama's on this.

And just to reiterate, that wouldn't be the diarist trying to undermine Obama.

He's just reporting the news.

BREAKING:  One of my Amish neighbor's kids found a one dollar bill on the side of the road yesterday.  As of this morning it was still unclear what he would spend it on.  Inside sources hinted that a chocolate ice cream cone was currently the frontrunner.

Re: Tony Rezko guilty on 16 counts (2.00 / 1)

Let's see, Obama may get hit with the Rezko charges BUT McSame had many many lobbyists in his campaign.  At worst this appears to be a draw for Obama.

by skywaker9 on Wed Jun 04, 2008 at 05:06:05 PM EST

not even (2.00 / 1)

Nothing Obama did had anything to do with these charges.

Re: Tony Rezko guilty on 16 counts (none / 0)

He/She is saying MCCAIN and GOP hit him with it...  Obama had nothing to do with anything Rezko got indicted for and has never been accused of any wrong doing with the exception of the property purchase... which I am sure Boy Toy McCain has similiar stuff in his past..  He did know the guy, and he donated ANY funds related to Rezko in ANY WAY to charity.

This isn't going to affect Obama at all.  Not worries.

No.  There's nothing to hit him on.  He's made a point of answering EVERY question put to him about it, and his name was not mentioned during the trial.  Please, don't do the repugs work for them.

Whitewater anyone? (none / 0)

Remember that there was nothing to hit the Clintons on with the Whitewater debacle, either. Look how that turned out.

The GOP smear machine will try, but barring the strange and unusual, I don't think this will hurt Obama. Color me optimistic.

Wow (2.00 / 1)

I think the only people who care about that are those who are Clinton "supporters".  It was the Gov who was tied to Rezko not the Senator.  The only thing that could be bad is if the Lt. Gov. is a republican then IL will likely have a republican Senator for a little while.

Our LT Gov is much more progressive than Blago.  I have heard the two don't like each other.  Personally, I'd like to see Blago go and Quinn take his place.

You've had a bug up your ass for this Rezko thing for awhile, Kat.

So I thank you for your public service announcement.  Will you be kind enough to move on?

I assume the BUSH-APPOINTED fed (2.00 / 1)

prosecutor is going to have some real interesting negotiations with Tony, starting now.
What will he say to stay out of jail?
Remember what they did to Don Seigelman - - Not good, not good at all.

John McCain says he would stay in Iraq for 100 years? That's crazy talk!

Re: Tony Rezko guilty on 16 counts (none / 0)

There's no way he's guilty on 16 of 24 counts.

What kind of insane math are you using?

You're obviously giving him credit for full counts on counts that did not count, and discounting the counts of counted counts that actually do count.

Troll.

Obama said he wouldn't be his friend (1.00 / 0)

if he was found guilty. I always found that strange. If somebody is a friend and screws up, aren't you still their friend? You let a jury decide whether you should be friends?

But no, with the Democratic party and voters, nobody will care. Only G.E. voters will care and that is not enough for the Democrats to nominate Hillary.
